| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
There's
far more to this life than trusting in Christ. There's
also suffering for him. And
the suffering is as much a gift as the trusting. (Philippians
1:29 — The Message)
We hear a lot about trusting in God
and Jesus, believing and taking Him at His word, and
many of us are still working through fully and totally
trusting God. But, when was the last
time you heard someone talk about suffering for God?
In America we don’t. In fact, it is
assumed that if you are suffering and going through hard
times that you have messed up.
People assume you must have sin in your life, for if
you were living “right” you would be
blessed. This sounds like Job’s friends. The truth
is, if we are living the way God wants
us to live and the way Jesus taught us to live.
We will all have hard times. Jesus even told us it would be this way. He told
us if they
hated Him, they will hate you as well. If they made life hard for Him (which
they did),
they will make life hard for you too. If we are not experiencing hard times,
attacks from
the enemy and some form of persecution for our faith, we are not doing something
right.
One of the problems we have in our culture is we see “troubles” as
bad or a bad sign. But
the truth, according to today’s verse, is it is just as much a gift as
trusting in God and
we need to embrace both. Following God is not a pick-and-choose kind of thing.
We don’t get
to pick out the things we like and leave the things we don’t. It’s
an all-or-nothing deal;
the trusting and suffering come as a package. Troubles and suffering is a sign
alright, a
sign that we are making waves in the enemy’s camp. If our lives are going
along with no
resistance whatsoever, we should be looking at what we are doing because if we
are having an
impact in this world and reaching others our lives will not be without problems.
So where are you today? Is your life a bed of roses? Or are you having troubles?
Are you
being attacked? Is there a balance of trusting and suffering for God in your
life? If not,
then get busy doing the things God wants you to do. Fight for the hearts of your
friends and family members who do not know God. Love on them, love them into
the kingdom, and don’t be
surprised when you see them making a move towards God if things start to go “bad” for
you.
Don’t worry about it; in fact expect it, for it is letting you know that
you are having an
effect in the war for people hearts.
