| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH
DAILY INSPIRATION |
Does the
LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much
as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better
than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel
15:22)
King Saul had disobeyed God
and when asked about it He told Samuel that he had kept
the sheep and cows for an offering sacrifice to God.
After all, isn’t that something that God wanted
from Israel, sacrifices for their sins? Saul just wanted
to worship God. But that is not what God asked for from
Saul.
Yes, sometimes we can be working against God’s
will, indeed even disobeying Him by engaging in good
activities, even acts of service and worship if that
is not what God asked us for.
So often we worship God on our terms, doing things our
way, but God wants things done His way. We want to do
His will but we want to do our way in a way that won’t
hurt us or cost too much. But as we see here, God is
more interested in our obedience than our sacrifice,
service, or worship.
Is there an area in your life that God is calling you
away from or calling you to that you are resisting or
hesitating on because you still want to “call” the
shots? Take time to check your heart, ask God to check
your heart, and then come clean. To obey is better than
sacrifice.
