| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
When God
made his promise to Abraham; he backed it to the hilt,
putting his own reputation on the line. He said, "I
promise that I'll bless you with everything I have--bless
and bless and bless!" Abraham stuck it out and
got everything that had been promised to him.
(Hebrews
6:13-15, the Message)
We have all been promised many things
in our lives, some have been kept and many have been
broken. Is it any wonder that we have had a hard time
trusting God and His promises to us? We have learned
a bad habit of interpreting and applying the way others
treat us and keep or not keep their promises to us to
God and as a result we don’t trust Him. We think
God and His promises to us are like those broken promises
made to us by others in our lives: made to get us to
do something that we really don’t want to do,
and when we do it we don’t get what was promised.
God is not trying to get us do to something that we
don’t want to do just for the fun of it. The reality
is He knows if we will do as He asks and live the way
He wants us to live we will be happier than if we don’t.
We don’t see that because we still want to be “in
charge” and “calling the shots” in
our lives. As long as we do that we will always be questioning
God, His heart and promises towards us. This is because
of our desire to remain in control. We say, “God,
I know better than you what is best for me and my life”.
Why this struggle and why when we try to give God the
control does it seem He tests and tries us? God wants
us to truly know what our heart's motives are. He wants
us to truly trust and follow Him and that we mean it
from our hearts.
Abraham followed and trusted God, but not just to get
the promises. He followed and trusted God because he
loved God. He knew God and knew and understood that
God’s heart and desire for His life was good.
The promises were icing on the cake; they were not his
focus.
Where is your focus today? On what you can get out
of life? On the promises and how you can get them and
what they can do for you? Or is it on God, His love
for you, and His heart towards you? Are you living your
life out of love for Him or what you can get from Him?
Live it with Passion
