| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
The Spirit
of GOD, the Master, is on me because GOD anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the
heartbroken, Announce freedom to all captives, pardon
all prisoners. GOD sent me to announce the year of
his grace—a celebration of God's destruction of our
enemies—and to comfort all who mourn, To care for
the needs of all who mourn in Zion give them bouquets
of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead
of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid
spirit. (Isaiah 61:1-3, the Message)
When was the last time you mourned,
I mean really wept over the loss of something? I don’t
just mean the loss of a loved one, we would all mourn
that, but I mean over the loss of a hope, an unfulfilled
dream or desire? If you are like most people you probably
haven’t. Our culture barely allows for grieving
of a loved one much less the loss of a dream. But our
dreams and desires are every bit as dear to our hearts
as those we love, just in a different way. They are
a part of who we are or hope to be, of what defines
us, and they are put there, many times, by God.
The Gospels record that Jesus wept more than once. He
wept over the people because they were lost and had
no one to follow. He had come to love them and He knew
they would reject Him. He wept in the garden and asked
three times that if there were any other way to accomplish
his task that the “cup” pass from Him. His
desire was not to die, it was to rescue us, and He had
to give up one desire, His desire to live, to gain the
other. And he wept over the loss.
Mourning and grieving the losses in our lives is something
we need to do if we are going to truly know God’s
comfort. As John Eldredge puts it in His book, The
Journey of Desire, “None of this makes sense (the ministry
of the Messiah as described in Isaiah 61) until we admit
our broken-heartedness and give our sorrow a voice in
mourning. Only then will we know His comfort. Until
then, they are nice, religious-sounding words.”
We all have things that we have lost, but have we truly
grieved them? It is in the grieving that we allow God
to come and comfort us and heal our broken hearts. It
is when we allow ourselves to mourn that we allow God
to fulfill that part of His ministry in our lives —
the healing of our hearts.
God wants all of you, not just your happiness, joy,
and love. He wants to share your pain and sorrow as
well. He knows you have them, even if you don’t.
So don’t hold back that part of you. Give Him
all of you and let Him be God, your comforter, the healer
of your heart, the one who loves you most.
Live it with Passion
