| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
We call Abraham "father" not
because he got God's attention by living like a saint,
but because God made something out of Abraham when
he was a nobody. Isn't that what we've always read
in Scripture, God saying to Abraham, "I set you
up as father of many peoples"? Abraham was first
named "father" and then became a father because
he dared to trust God to do what only God could do:
raise the dead to life, with a word make something
out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham
believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis
of what he saw he couldn't do but on what God said
he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude
of peoples. God himself said to him, "You're going
to have a big family, Abraham!" (Romans 4:17-18,
the Message)
So many of us go through our lives thinking we are nobody,
that we are not special, that we are just a bit player
in a big play that we know nothing or little about. There
are no great people, no special people, no extraordinary
people; there are only ordinary people who allow themselves
to be used by God for extraordinary things. They trust
in the goodness of God’s heart towards them.
Who was Abraham? Just some guy making his living, just
someone that God chose to call on, just someone God
had made the object of His affection. Before Abraham
had done anything, before his first child was born,
God called Him father and made a promise that he would
be the father of a great nation and that the number
of his descendants would be as many as the grains of
sand on the beach.
Catch the time sequence; God calls - before Abraham
does anything - God calls him a father and makes a promise.
What has Abraham done to this point? Nothing. God’s
promise hinges though on Abraham’s trust and faith
in what God has told Him and he is faithful and completely
trusts God. So God makes good on His promise.
What promise has God made you? What desire in your heart
has God placed there that you have forgotten over the
years? Do you want to find out what God has created
you for, what great thing He has in store for you? Get
in touch with your heart’s deepest desire. God
placed it there, the one that excites and scares you;
excites you because it is your passion placed there
by God and scares you because it requires faith. You
can’t do it on your own; it will only happen if
God makes it happen.
Get in touch with God, get close to Him, listen to Him
to His heart towards you.
He has created us all for unique and extraordinary things
if only we will have faith and trust. What God can do
in our lives and with our lives is limited only by us.
Do you really want to limit God in your life?
Live it with Passion
