| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
Don't be
naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end
approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry,
self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of
parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers,
impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless,
bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to
God. They'll make a show of religion, but behind the
scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people.
These are the kind of people who smooth-talk themselves
into the homes of unstable and needy women and take
advantage of them; women who, depressed by their sinfulness,
take up with every new religious fad that calls itself "truth."
(2 Timothy 3:1-6, the Message)
Doesn’t this sound like our
world today? All of the self-help books, self promotion, “think
of number one (self) first”, disrespect for authority,
stiffed-necked attitudes, never having enough things
and not caring who gets hurt as long as you get yours.
It all sounds just as Paul describes and that’s
just the non-believers. But what about the “religious” people
— priests and their sexual immorality with their followers
and children, and TV evangelists with their constant
cry for money to all of those people who are shut in
their homes unable to get out to fellowship with other
believers? The shut-ins’ desires are right, but
they are deceived by these self-promoting, self-centered
preachers who strip them of their life savings and their
dignity.
God called us to live a life that is 180 degrees the
opposite of what is described here in 2 Timothy 3. We
are to think of the needs and desires of others before
our own. It is not that we are to forget ours, but we
are to put others first, we are to die to self and live
to God every day, that is what is meant by picking up
our cross. We are to take on the heart of God our Father,
Friend and Lover, to love others the way He loves them,
sacrificing everything that they/we may have the opportunity
to choose life with Him. It's not a guarantee that they/we
will chose to follow but that they/we might choose to
follow.
I am sure that none of you are like those that Paul
describes here, but if you are choose today to turn
from your selfish ways. And if you are not like these,
check out those who you support and those with whom
you associate with. If they are like that then break
off your support. As Paul says, “Stay clear of
these people.”
Live it with Passion
