| LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
Anyone who
wants to live all out for Christ is in for a lot of
trouble; there's no getting around it. Unscrupulous
con men will continue to exploit the faith. They're
as deceived as the people they lead astray. As long
as they are out there, things can only get worse. But
don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned
and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers —
why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother's
milk! There's nothing like the written Word of God
for showing you the way to salvation through faith
in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed
and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing
our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us
to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together
and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. (2 Timothy
3:12-17, the Message)
Is that the message you heard when
you were invited to accept Jesus as your savior? If
you are like most people, no. You were told that giving
your life to Jesus would solve all your problems. He
would make things better and that the only reason you
had struggles was because you were living in sin. So
you accepted Jesus and then reality set in. Things didn't
get better. In fact, for many of us, they got worse.
And here's why: we have an enemy who is all out to stop
us at any cost and he does not care who he takes down
with us. He will do anything, hurt any body, if it will
get us to take our eyes off of God, to turn our backs
on God and trust in ourselves instead of God. He is
relentless in his attack and we must be as well in the
fight over our hearts and the hearts of others.
Paul is so great — he doesn't just tell us we in for
a lot of trouble now that we have decided to live all
out for God but he tells us how to stay fit and prepared.
We must be in God's word, reading it, studying it, meditating
on it, and talking with God daily. More to the point,
we need to be listening to Him daily to hear what He
is saying to us. The word of God is our only true weapon
in this war against this enemy. It was the weapon of
choice by Christ Himself (Luke 4) when He was tempted
in the desert.
There is no substitute for God's word, both written
and living. We need it daily, constantly, if we are
going to survive and prevail in this war. And don't
think you don't have the time, which is just a lie by
the enemy to prevent you from preparing yourself for
battle. Without the power of the word in your heart
and mind you will not be able to live the life God created
you for and you will be defeated. So arm yourself and
get ready to rumble!
