| LIVING THE
SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
"I
am honored all over the world. And there are people
who know how to worship me all over the world, who
honor me by bringing their best to me. They're saying
it everywhere: 'God is greater, this God-of-the-Angel-Armies.' "All
except you. Instead of honoring me, you profane me.
You profane me when you say, 'Worship is not important,
and what we bring to worship is of no account,' and
when you say, 'I'm bored—this doesn't do anything
for me.' You act so superior; sticking your noses in
the air—act superior to me, God-of-the-Angel-Armies!
And when you do offer something to me, it's a hand-me-down,
or broken, or useless. Do you think I'm going to accept
it? This is God speaking to you! (Malachi 1:11-13 — The
Message)
What is worship? Worship is our spontaneous
response to who God is and what he has done and is doing.
It is anything we do that glorifies God and/or points
others to Him. When we worship we are to bring our best.
But how often do we go to church, or even start our day,
not ready to have an encounter with God? We show up looking
to be impressed by the music, the singing, the message
and when we are not we feel let down or bored. We ask
ourselves what the point was. Remember, we get out of
things what we put into them. Here’s the point:
worship is not about you, it is not for you, it is and
was never meant for you to get your “jollies”;
it is all about God. Now this does not mean that when
we worship God that we do not get something. We do, for
in God’s world it is a greater blessing to give
than receive. But we do not give to receive; there is
no blessing in selfishness.
We worship every single moment of every single day. We can’t
help it, we were created to worship and we can no more stop worshiping
than we can stop breathing. The question is what you are worshiping
and how. Again, we are to bring our best. Do you bring your best
to everything you do? Everything we do that glorifies God and/or
points others to Him is worship. Do you bring your best when
you are cooking a meal, doing laundry, doing your job, ect?
As we start a new year, start a new way of living. Bring your
best to all you do, bring your best to God, and hold nothing
back when giving to God!
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
