SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
Submit yourselves,
then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you. (James 4:7 — NIV)
…the devil… was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the
truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language,
for he is a liar and the father of lies.
(John 8:44 — NIV)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. (John 14:6 — NIV)
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good
news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery
of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed. (Luke 4:18 — NIV)
What did James mean when he said “Resist
the devil”? Did he mean resist the temptations
of the devil? Yes, but I think he meant something more
than that as well. I think he meant resist the lies of
the devil. It is the lies he tells us about ourselves
and who we are that get us down the most. Jesus said
that he (the thief, enemy or devil) is only there to
steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10). What is he out
to destroy? It is our joy and our passion for God, and
the passion and desires God placed in our hearts. He
wants to destroy our understanding of who we are in Christ
and the authority that has been given us by God.
The first thing is understand that the bad things that
we think about ourselves or that we have been told about
ourselves are lies, lies from the enemy, lies designed
to keep us ineffective for God and to keep us miserable
in our lives. The truth is we are God’s beloved,
the apple of His eye, the focus of His affection. We
are His adopted children. We have been crucified with
Christ and raised with Him and as such we are in Him.
He is sitting at the right hand of the Father and has
been given authority over all things. Jesus said that
we would do everything He did and more, that whatever
we bound or loosed would be bound or loosed. These are
the truths about us and who we are; everything else is
a lie.
Nothing is more foundational to your freedom than your
understanding and affirming what God has done for you
in Christ and who you are as a result. If you see yourself
as a helpless victim of the lies of the enemy, if you
believe the lies of the enemy, then you will live like
his victim and be in bondage to his lies. But if you
see yourself as the dearly loved and accepted child of
God (and you really are), you will live a child of God.
Take that first step and reject the lies of the enemy
and embrace the truths of God. See yourself as God does
and start to live as a son or daughter of God.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
