LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. (1 Timothy 2:1 — The Message)

Well, at least we can pray. How many times have you heard or said that? We spend a lot of time trying everything in our own power, using our resources, our time, our money and our energy trying to solve things that are best dealt with through prayer. We all have done this, but Paul is making it abundantly clear that prayer should always be our first option, not the last. And it is not the only thing we should do. Paul is not saying that we should not do what we can, using our God given gifts and talents. We should, but the use of those gifts and talents needs to be preceded by prayer. I have prayed for members of my family and have seen God move in mighty and miraculous ways. I have prayed against the weather on a number of occasions and have seen storms move around us, or hold off until our event was complete. I have seen a hole in the storm form, surround me and move with me as I drove down the highway.

The problem I think we have with prayer is we think we are not doing anything. The truth is when we pray we are doing the greatest thing we possibly can. There is not any situation you encounter that you will not handle better if you first cover it with prayer.

Paul is right; we need to pray every way we know how. Pray by giving thanks, ask forgiveness, and make your requests known, with fasting, with friends, in song, and so on.

And remember that prayer is simply talking to God the way you would talk to anyone else that you love and care about. That is why we can pray constantly and throughout the day. Pray when you wake up. Do you say, “good morning God what do you have for me today?” Or do you say, “good God it’s morning!” Pray when you eat, when you are driving, when you face a challenge at work, and of course, in those times and for those things that need God’s divine touch,. Anytime is a good time to pray.

So pray; pray every way you know how and for everyone you know.

Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,

Pete Reinbold
