LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION
Pursue a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. Run hard and fast in the faith. Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to, the life you so fervently embraced in the presence of so many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:11-12 — The Message)

There are many things that we can pursue in this life: money, wealth, jobs, positions, status, notoriety, and so forth. But as followers of Christ we are instructed to pursue a “righteous” life. Just what is a righteous life?

First, it is not a pious life. Many people get these two mixed up. Being “Holier than Thou”, following a set of rules and regulations, not doing this or that, is not the same as being righteous. Paul not only is instructing us to life a righteous life, but He tells us what that is — “a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy”. Live life this way and you will be living a “righteous” life.

Second, Paul indicates that pursuing a righteous life will require work and effort; “Run hard and fast” and “Seize the eternal life”. Living the way that God designed us to live is not going to be easy, it is going to require work and effort on our part. We have to live life with intention and purpose. It’s not that God designed it to be hard or that he wants it this way, but as we purpose in our hearts to pursue the life God has for us, to pursue a life of God-defined-righteousness, we will be opposed. Our enemy will stop at nothing to discourage us and derail us. If we are going to have the life God wants we are going to have to fight for it.

We were created for an abundant life, a life worth living, a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. That is what God is offering. It is there for us, but we must fight for it or we will lose it. So seize this eternal life that God has purchased and given you. He offers it to you; seize and take it, hold on to it and fight for it.

Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,

Pete Reinbold
