| LIVING THE
SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
Avoid the
talk-show religion and the practiced confusion of the
so-called experts. People caught up in a lot of talk
can miss the whole point of faith. (1 Timothy 6:21 — The Message)
Some of this seems pretty clear. We
all know of religious TV shows. They often feature “great” public
demonstrations of “faith” and “power” which
in most cases are put on for their theatrical visual
effect and to raise money. But there is another kind
of “talk-show” religion, the practice of
believers going from one Bible study to another and talking
about what they read and listening to others talk about
what they read, yet never putting it into practice.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying we should
not read and study the Bible or have discussions with
others about God, what He is teaching us and what we
are learning. Our lives, however, should be spent living
our faith, not just studying, learning and talking about
it. You could be the most knowledgeable person in the
world about God and the Bible but if you never put any
of that knowledge into practice where is your faith?
What good is it to you? It is non-existent. It does not
take any faith or belief to study the Bible. There are
many who do so and then write books to try and discredit
it. To just study and learn about God and Jesus and never
put it in to practice and live it out is Godlessness.
The Bible says be doers of the Word not just (readers)
hearers of the Word. If we only hear the Word what good
is it to us, God or anyone else? Our life is about faith,
our faith in God and His calling on our lives, and our
faith to act on that calling.
The Christian life was never meant to be lived out on
TV; it was meant to be lived out on the streets, in our
work places, and neighborhoods by exercising our faith
in what we have read and studied by the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. Live out your faith in your daily life.
Let those you meet and see on a daily basis see your
faith. That is where you will have the greatest impact—one-on-one,
person-to-person.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
