| LIVING THE
SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
It wasn't
so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn,
dupes of sin, ordered every which way by our glands,
going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and
hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior
God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was
all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave
us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed
inside and out by the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3: 3-5 — The
Message)
How often we forget that; it was all
His (God’s) doing and we had nothing to do with
making things right with God. How do I know that we forget
this? How many times, after we’ve messed up have
we gone to God to ask for forgiveness and then insisted
on trying to impress others by reading the Bible more,
praying more, singing or listening to worship music more,
or some other form of “sacrifice”, as though
that would or could enhance our forgiveness. Paul has
it absolutely correct; “It was all His doing; we
had/have nothing to do with it.”
I know that when you first accepted Jesus’ work
on the cross, His death, resurrection and ascension,
that you knew you could do nothing to make this forgiveness
happen or to enhance it. But somehow we have started
to believe, now that we are children of the King, that
we can have some part in our forgiveness. The truth is
we have no more part in it after we became believers
than we did before we were believers.
So what are we to do then we are convicted by the Holy
Spirit of a sin in our lives? Do the same thing we did
when we first accepted Jesus. Bring it to Him, lay it
before Him, admit that we sinned and that we need Him
and want Him to forgive us. As James says, confess your
sins and He, God, is just and faithful to forgive you.
So take it to Him, leave it and move on. Once you have
confessed it and asked forgiveness God not only forgives
it but He forgets it and moves on; so should we.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
