LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. ( James 1:22 — New International Version)

We have talked about how the enemy can deceive us with his lies and accusations, but can a believer deceive themselves as well? Yes. Over the next few days we will look at the different ways the Bible says we can deceive ourselves.

First, and sometimes the hardest, is reading the Bible or hearing a great message and then not acting on what we have heard or read. This can come in many forms. Most of us would recognize the times when we have heard a message about reaching the lost, going to those that need Jesus and sharing our faith, and then we go and do nothing. That’s the easy one to see, but there are others as well. How about when the Bible says that you are a child of God, the focus of His affection that knew and loved you before He laid the foundations of the Earth? Do you act on this? Do you treat yourself like the child of God that He sees you as? If not, then you are deceiving yourself. You see, we don’t just deceive ourselves when we fail to go out to the world and tell them about Jesus, we also deceive ourselves when we refuse to believe and act upon the things God say about us. Both are important.

If the Bible says to do something. then do it. If it says that God looks at you in a certain way, then believe it and accept it. Do not continue to deceive yourself.

Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,

Pete Reinbold
