SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
The tongue
that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful
tongue crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15:4 — NIV)
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those
who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21 — NIV)
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does
not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself
and his religion is worthless. (James 1:26 — NIV)
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and
with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.
(James 3:9 — NIV)
We deceive ourselves when we think we
are religious, or have our lives together, and yet do not
control our tongue:
We were created for relationship with God and others for
the purpose of supporting and building each other up, not
to tear down and berate those who are struggling. There
is a saying that is associated with the church in America.
That saying is, “the Church is the only army that
shoots its wounded”. I have to say in my 36 years
of walking with the Lord I have seen this lived out more
than not.
The verses I selected today are but a few of the many that
speak of the power of the tongue and its ability to speak
death or life. We are to use our tongues to speak life
to one another, to build up, encourage and support. Nothing
grieves God more than when we badmouth people instead of
building them up with our speech. We are to give support
to those who are struggling, thereby showing grace and
compassion, just as God does with us. We must remember
that everyone we see and speak with is someone God created
and died for. If we do not control our tongues but believe
we have our spiritual lives together we are only fooling
ourselves.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
