| LIVING THE
SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
Why is everyone
hungry for more? "More, more," they say, "More,
more." I have God's more-than-enough, more joy
in one ordinary day than they get in all their shopping
sprees. At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep, for
you, God, have put my life back together. (Psalm 4:6-8 — The
Message)
We have a society that is drowning in
debt because of the “more” attitude. We have
people demanding that the government give them more and
fill more of their basic needs so they can spend their
money on more toys rather than take care of their own basic
needs first. A majority of the “poor”, as defined
by our government, own their own home, have two cars, large
screen TVs, a computer, iPod and video game consoles, and
they want more. It is a culture of give me more, more,
more so I can get more, more, more and at day’s end
they are no more happy and content than when the day started.
We will never be happy or satisfied with more things. Oh,
we might be happy for a while, but if we look to things
for our joy, happiness and contentment we will also be
left longing for something more. That longing that we are
trying so desperately to satisfy can only be filled when
we turn to God, our creator, our Father and the one who
loves us more than we will ever understand. It is He alone
that will bring peace to our longing hearts.
This does not mean that we cannot have nice things and
enjoy nice things, but we should never look to things and
more things as a means to fulfill the longing and emptiness
in our hearts. That can only be filled by yielding our
hearts to God’s. Connecting them daily with His is
the thing we need the most and long for the most, even
though we may not yet realize it. Being one with Him, knowing
and feeling His presence in our lives is what we really
want and need. Once we have that then “things” will
take their proper place as things and not as objects of
our affection. We will then have the peace we long for.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
