| LIVING THE
SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION |
This is
the original message we heard: We should love each
other. The way we know we've been transferred from
death to life is that we love our brothers and sisters.
This is how we've come to understand and experience
love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why
we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers,
and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some
brother or sister in need and have the means to do
something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do
nothing, what happens to God's love? It disappears.
And you made it disappear. (1 John 3:11, 14, 16-17 — The Message)
The original message we heard, the message
of love and Jesus’ command that we love each other
as we love ourselves and as He has loved us, is back to
that foundational idea of Love. But what kind of love is
John speaking of here? Certainly we are not to love each
other the way we love our spouse. No, John goes on to explain
that the love God is referring to is not a feeling, but
an action, a verb. When we show others acts of kindness,
meet their needs, lend a hand or an ear, then we are loving
them. The action of doing for others instead of always
for our selves is an act of love, the kind of love that
Jesus showed. It is putting the needs of others before
the needs or wants of our selves. It is these acts of kindness
that made the followers of Jesus stand out in their communities;
it is these kinds of acts that Jesus was referring to when
He said, they (the world) will know you are my followers
by the love you have (show) for each other. It is these
acts of kindness that caused others to want to become followers
of Jesus.
Jesus has left this earth and we are still here as His
representatives, to show the rest of the world His love,
His transforming love, by loving others and meeting their
needs. We do this by reaching out to others, by giving
to others sacrificially. Make it a daily commitment to
show others the love of God by your acts of kindness and
courteousness. Let God’s love live and flow through
you.
Live intentionally, purposely, free and with passion,
