Below is information that followed the
story of Eagle TV in Mongolia. Through many challenges
they have returned to the airwaves in Mongolia as a cable
station - more

EAGLE TV -
This television station was a unique independent
voice in Mongolia. Their programming mix of news, sports,
culture and some Christian programming was
very popular with the public, but not the government.

Newest report from Tom Terry:
It's 11:20pm, July 5th. Just a quick update and praise report. Today the
Ministry of Justice granted to Eagle Broadcasting Company our registration
certificate as a television studio. This means that the last Mongolian hurdle has been cleared!
We now possess all of the legal and contractual rights to begin immediate operation of Eagle
TV as a cable network in Mongolia. As you know from my most recent update, we already have the contract
for cable distribution, and a new home, which we take possession of on August 1st. The rebuild process
will begin then, and is slated to take 2-3 months.
Please pray for the necessary finances to complete the rebuilding process. (Previous coverage here)

Living the Solution received an email from Tom Terry,
station manager for Eagle TV, detailing the large and
peaceful pro-democracy protest in Mongolia following
the country's elections.
Below is the email - photos from MongliaLife.com:
Dear Friends:
Today nearly 2,000 people gathered to protest against the Ruling Party's handling of last Sunday's elections.
The protests lasted for 5 hours, and was completely peaceful. Protesters demanded the government, currently
under the leadership of the "former" communist party (MPRP) recognize the victory of the democratic
coalition, and allow them to form a new government. The MPRP has refused to concede defeat.
The MPRP won 36 seats. A Coalition of 4 opposition parties, and three independents won 38 seats. 3 districts
are contested. The MPRP has accused the coalition of dirty tricks, on the heals of the discovery that the
MPRP spent money from Mongolia's emergency accounts to pay for it's election campaign.
Near the end of the five hour protest, I was snapping some final images of people leaving "Freedom Square," where
the Election Committee offices are housed. People waved happily, gave many thumbs up. Some people recognized
me, and when the police refused to allow me up the steps of the building with the other media to get a
good vantage, one man pointed and said to the police, "Eagle TV! Eagle TV!" Then he grabbed me by the arm and
pushed me forward in front of the police officer, "Eagle TV! Eagle TV!" The police line parted and I was
let in. At the end, I noticed that I was the only one getting thumbs up from people as I snapped pictures.
I chalked it up to being a foreigner, covering the event - since Mongols know that international accountability
of the government is at a low.
|
Finally, something
incredible happened. I was snapping final images of
everyone departing and this man (left) gave me a thumbs
up and asked me who I was. I shook his hand and said, "I'm
Tom Terry, from Eagle TV." "Eagle TV!?" His
eyes got big, he stopped, looked around and said, "Eagle
TV!" Suddenly I was surrounded with 20-30 people
who wanted to hear about Eagle TV. He began translating,
in broken English, what everyone wanted to say to me.
"When are you coming
back?"
" We need Eagle TV, Mongolian TV doesn't tell us the
truth, only Eagle TV told us the truth!"
" You're from Eagle TV? Eagle TV was the best TV in Mongolia.
Will it come back?"
As they crowded in, everyone began telling me their
stories about Eagle TV - why the loved Eagle so much.
Every comment amounted to the same remarkable truth;
for these Mongolian's, Eagle TV was synonymous with
Truth. Not simple news accuracy, not propaganda, not
political sides, but with Truth. My friends, tell me,
can we ask for a much better reputation with the Mongolian
people than one of "Truth?"
A 77-year-old man came thru the crowd to address me.
He was very animated. As he spoke, he got louder, and
more intense! "I vote on Sunday. I vote for democrat
candidate." He pulled out his voting slip to show
me. "After I vote, I told that my vote no good.
I come 400 kilometers to protest. Most my life I live
under communism. Communist never gave us anything.
They gave us only one TV, it never told the truth.
We need your station to tell the truth!"
I looked at this precious man and said to him, "I
want you to know that I've come 10,000 kilometers from
America, to get Eagle TV back on the air for the Mongolian
people." The response of this small crowd was
overwhelming!
Finally, the man translating everything looked at me,
and in his broken English said, "You're TV, the
best TV, it was only TV that was true TV. When will
you come back?" "October," I said. "You
need to tell your friends that we are coming back.
There are some who don't want us to come back." Then
he turned to the group, raised his hands and told them
in Mongolian, "We have to tell everyone we know
that Eagle TV is returning, we have to spread the word
about Eagle."
As we parted, people reached out to shake my hand,
even from the fringes. I began to wonder if I should
have Secret Service protection!
Please pray for Eagle TV during this time of great
political turmoil in Mongolia, and for the Mongolian
people - that their free election results will result
in greater freedom for the nation- and that their expanded
freedom will result in more people having an opportunity
to learn about the true freedom that comes only from
Jesus Christ.

MATTHEW 6:25-33
|
|
|
"Therefore
I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will
eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more important than food, and the body more
important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet
your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more
valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a
single hour to his life?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow.
They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?'
or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all
these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first
his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you
as well.
