 FEATURED ARTICLE
I Have a Confession to Make
by Tom Gilbert

If I am truly honest with myself then I must admit how many times I am not honest. I don’t mean I’m a pathological liar. Oh, no, it is much more subtle than that. I mean that I can always be more honest about who I am, what I believe and what I am doing and thinking.

Personal desires, selfishness, justification and rationalization all play a part in keeping our false self prominent. Only God can help us discover our true selves. Our spiritual rebirth is the beginning of our true and real self. Daily living in the freedom of being real, honest and true is a process. Taking responsibility for my thoughts and actions means recognizing them and confessing my wrongs (sins). God, of course, is aware of them, but the need to own up to them is part of growing. Doing this, asking God for the grace to not repeat the same behavior and celebrating the reconciliation of “stepping into the sunlight of the spirit” is part of our personal resurrection to our new way of life.

 IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Using the Internet for Good

The Internet has made real the concept of the “Global Village”. There are many amazing and wonderful things that can be accomplished using this technology. The ability to get and share information is perhaps the biggest. Unfortunately there is abuse, and constant potential for abuse of this medium (just as there is in other media), but we should all strive to support the spread of the Gospel “Good News” via the Internet. It is our constant effort and many others are doing the same.

 WHAT'S NEW & COMING SOON

Can you become addicted to the Internet? This month we have discussed various addictions and provided many resources to help. The Internet is an amazing thing and can be used for good and bad. Living the Solution would not exist without the Internet. We are striving to reach out in cyberspace to all seeking ways to deal with life’s problems and to discover the solution. However, many people are caught “in the web”, so to speak, of Internet abuse. The same things that can be a problem offline (gaming, gambling, pornography, etc) are often readily available and magnified online. For more read our review of Hooked on the Net by Andrew Careaga.

We have now added a feature to many of our article pages to make them “Printer friendly”. Just click on the link on those web pages and it will open up a new browser window formatted for printing.

We have a new feature: God FAQ (frequently asked questions of/about God)

We don’t assume to have all the answers or to know the mind of God – who can? Yet, we believe that God does work miraculously in people’s lives. Many people have questions about God and we will share one in each issue of this newsletter.

This time the question is “How do I know God is listening to me?”

We have some thoughts on this. See it online here.

Some of the new articles on our site include:

 DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS
We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).

Picture a box full of keys. They might all look very much alike, but each one has been cut to open a particular door. If you try to open the right door with the wrong key, it won’t work.

We are like one of those keys. God designed each one of us to do special things that no one else can do. There are special “doors” that God wants each of us to open. There are special jobs that He has for us in His kingdom. We are not just an accident that happened one day. Long before we were born, God knew exactly how He wanted to use our lives.

In His Grace

Quotables:

The more Jesus intends to raise a soul to perfection, the more He tries it by suffering. So rejoice, I say to you, in seeing yourself so privileged, in spite of your unworthiness. The more you are afflicted, the more you ought to rejoice, because in the fire of tribulation the soul will become pure gold, worthy to be placed and shine in the heavenly palace.
