Opening Thoughts:
God loves you. You’ve heard it before. But,
have you accepted it?
This is no insignificant question. Accepting that God loves you – yes,
you – with a powerful, all-consuming, merciful, forgiving, unconditional
and passionate love is sort of mind blowing. So, a lot of people just
hear that “God loves them” and are glad but not really
accepting of it. It’s hard to let someone love you that much.
Since God is this passionate about us that means ultimately it is a safe universe. Nothing can separate
us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39). To accept this love is receiving a gift. It’s
not “getting” a gift that you take and set aside. It must be opened,
received and reciprocated to get the full benefit.
God is a great gift giver!
Peace and joy,
Tom Gilbert

Love
One Another As I Have Loved You
By Tom Gilbert
The gospels tell the story and the ministry of Jesus
Christ. They also tell us what Jesus' wants us to do
as His followers.
Mainly He tells us to love one another. He even tells
us how we should love, using His perfect life
as the model.
How should we love one another? Jesus made it very clear. The Father loves the
Son. The Son obeys the Father and remains in his love. Obey Jesus and remain
in his love. This is not "I'll love you as long as you love me back". It's a
commandment to love each other just as we are loved. Since we know that God and
Jesus always love us, no matter what, then we should be glad to obey.
You are never wrong when you love

DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS |

Wildly Extravagant Life
If death got the upper hand through one man's wrongdoing,
can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in
those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand
setting-everything-right that the one man Jesus Christ provides?
Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us
in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right
and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble,
he got us into life!
(Romans 5:17-19, the Message)
Wildly extravagant gift, is that how you view what God
through His son Jesus has given you? We all know it is a gift, this life
offer from God. We did not deserve it, but do we see it as “Wildly extravagant”?
That term evokes emotion, a sense of logical abandonment, over the top,
an excess; it makes no sense to give us this gift of life, a life in a
passionate love affair with God, for free. It transcends all logic.
It is wild, it is unpredictable, but that is just what God did and that
is part of who He is; wild and out of our control and understanding.
Adam got us into this mess and God, through Jesus, offers
us a way out, but not just a way out. It is not just a fire escape from
hell. He offers us life; the life for which we were created. It's a life
with Him in a intimate, passionate, loving relationship; wildly extravagant
and filled with risk, adventure, faith, and hope. Many of us only want to
be saved from the sentence of Hell for our sins, but we are afraid to move
beyond to what Jesus really died for - a life with Him in an intimate, passionate,
loving relationship.
Don’t make little what Christ did for you on the cross by looking
at it as only a fire escape. Embrace Him with logical abandonment and enter
into the love life He has for you!
Live it with Passion

Quotable: Lighting the Flame
“You go to your saint and find God working
and manifest in him. He got near to God by some saint of his that
went before him, or that stood beside him, in whom he saw the divine
presence. That saint again lighted his fire at some flame before him;
and so the power of the sainthoods animates and fills the world.”
