Opening Thoughts:
Have you ever tried to sit quietly without thinking?
It seems impossible. But, it is not. You can, with practice
and dedicated effort, sit in quiet contemplative prayer.
The thoughts won’t cease completely, at least they
do not for me, but you can let them go by without dwelling
on them.
As you quiet your brain you calm down, you stop the “squirrel cage
running” of your mind. And God’s presence can be noticed.
God does not shout at us. God waits patiently until our attention is turned
towards the Divine. Then He whispers!
A combination of quiet contemplation, study and action
can make for effective living. When your mind is like
the smooth surface of a still lake you are more receptive
to learning. Then take that learning and put it into
daily application.

Kid
Stuff

“Ruff ruff!”.
I crawl along the carpet and peak around the corner into
the hall. “Arf, woof, grrrr…”
Little high-pitched barks return to me. Soon I hear a giggle or two. I turn the
corner and scramble on all fours towards my niece, turn her over and give her
a good ole’ fashioned tummy rub. She laughs hysterically, rolls away and
rises to her knees and holds her hands…er, I mean her “paws” in
front of her and pants like a good doggie.
What’s going on here? A sneak attack of silliness? Harmless immature childplay?

| WHAT'S
NEW & COMING SOON |
|
A huge part of life is how we live with others. This is especially crucial for
the intimate relationships of marriage, parenting,
the workplace and in the everyday contact with each other.
Just look at the word “relationship”. How
do you RELATE to others? Is your ship on course for
loving contact as you toss and bounce on the waves
of life? Is God your rudder?
We’ll look more at relationships this month.
We also will look at the impact of movies in our
culture. For many people the movie theater and the
medium of movies is the “new church”,
although they may not be conscious of it as such.
The new God FAQ question for this issue is “What
is a Godly relationship?”
Some of the new articles on our site include:
Traveling Salvation Show
The Journey of Journaling
F.E.A.R.
New reviews on the following:

Between a Catholic and an Evangelical by
Fr John R. Waiss and James G. McCarthy
Myself When I Am Real by

Some Fruits of
Solitude by William Penn/edited into

DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS |
|
Actions
Speak Louder than Words
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves,
do what it says. (James 1:22)
Have you ever heard a pastor or
youth pastor deliver an awesome message? Maybe their
words changed your life in some way. God loves a good
message, but He is more interested in what happens when
those pastors stop speaking and go back to living their
lives. Will their actions -- the way they live their
lives -- match what they say? Do they practice what
they preach?
Jesus was an awesome preacher whose actions always
matched his words. In fact, you can learn his lessons
by looking at his life. Seeing him wash the feet of
his friends, you learn what it means to be a servant.
Seeing him with his arms around little children, you
learn about love. Seeing him confront the money changers
and merchants in the temple, the hypocritical church
leaders of his day, and his spiritual enemies you
learn what it means to be a warrior and how to fight
for what is right. Seeing him on the cross forgiving
all of mankind, you learn what it means to forgive.
The most amazing sermons Jesus ever preached were
the ones he lived.
In His grace
