Love and Tolerance

Love – it’s a powerful force. Some would say the most powerful force in the universe.

The Bible says God is love. Some would say God is the most powerful force in the universe. The Almighty Being is indeed all powerful, all loving and completely all amazing.

I don’t say this simply because you or others believe it. I don’t say it to be fashionable – or unfashionable. I don’t say it just because scripture does. I will admit to all of the above being an influence.

I believe God and love are one and all powerful because my own experiences tell me so. My heart cries out for completion and that doesn’t come from people, places or things.

“I Vant to be Alone!”

No one truly wants to be alone, especially those who tell you so. We all want connection. Completion. To be one just as Jesus and the Father are one.

How do we do that? In a word: love. In another word: tolerance.

Africa AIDS Crisis

The horrific HIV/AIDS epidemic that is ravaging much of the world is particularly hitting hard in the continent of Africa. The problem is compounded by the severe poverty, the debt countries owe and the high price of medication and drugs that could alleviate much suffering and prolong lives.

What to do in the face of such an overwhelming and alarming problem? The answers may not be easy, but we should and must do something. It starts with awareness and continues with action. President Bush has pledged billions to help. Organizations that are monitoring the situation and working for solutions have much to say.

"It's time to make the connection between debt relief and epidemic relief. If the international community relieves some of their external debt, these countries can reinvest the savings in poverty alleviation and AIDS prevention and care. If not, poverty will just continue to fan the flames of the epidemic." – Peter Piot, Executive Director of UNAIDS

"Part of winning the war on terrorism is winning the war on poverty. We've had the wake-up call. If we stand by and watch [Africa] go up in flames, the price won't be paid solely in African lives." – Bono(U2), Feb, 2002

 DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS
Seven Wonders of the World

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student had not returned her paper. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little.
I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help you out.

"The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:
1. to touch
2. to taste
3. to see
4. to hear… She hesitated a little, and then added
5. to feel
6. to laugh
7. and to love

The room was so full of silence, you could have heard a pin drop.
