Get Out Of Control

If you are struggling in life and you feel like things are out of control then maybe you need to get “out of control”.

What does this paradoxical statement mean?

Think about how you approach living. Are you trying on your own power to deal with all the complexities and challenges that come your way? You can make all the plans you want, set down your goals, work your plan and still end up frustrated.

The problem is that we try to run things ourselves. Of course, each of us is responsible for our own actions. You cannot get away from that fact. That doesn’t make you responsible for the outcome.

A wise statement I read somewhere says something to the effect that it’s not what happens to us in life that matters it is how we respond to what happens.

Response is part of the word responsibility. This is different from reaction. A physical law in the universe is that for every action there is a reaction. Physics teaches that this is an “opposite but equal reaction”. In the spiritual realm this applies as well, except that it may not be an opposite or equal reaction. However, what we do does affect what happens. Here’s the mindbender. Sometimes what we don’t do also has consequences.

 IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Sanctity of Human Life

January 19-26 is “Sanctity of Human Life” week. This is a week to not only recognize the horrors of the taking of life in all the ways that happens, but to revere life—in all its ways.

One of the arguments against pro-lifers is that each of us has the right to choose. Those making that point are, in essence, correct. We do have the right to choose. Missing from this argument are the consequences of free choice that are morally wrong. Sure, we all have freedom of choice. God deliberately made us with free will so that our choice to love God and others will have meaning. | read full article |

Quotables:
A little girl asked her mother, "God is everywhere, right?" The mother responded with a loving, "Yes." The little girl then asked, "And God is within us, right?" The mother replied, "Yes, He is." The little girl asked, "Well, if God is so big, and He is within us, then doesn't that mean that He would spill out of us?"

Out of the mouth of babes...
