Opening Thoughts:
Do you grapple with some of the Bible passages? You know
the ones, where you find you can’t accept it as from God.
I know we all wrestle with it. It seems to me that the Bible is rich
on many levels and that understanding must come from Divine wisdom.
I encourage you to go beyond the surface and pray for discernment when
you have questions (you WILL have questions!).
Peace be with you,
Tom Gilbert

Can
You Hear Me Now?
by Tom Gilbert
I bought a mobile phone about four
years ago. It wasn’t the first I’d owned, but it was the first time
I was footing the bill. So I did a bit of research and
settled with a plan that gave me free long-distance for
my minutes. I would pay the same whether I was calling
across the country or down the street.
This seemed like a good idea. I rationalized that I’d be able to call my family
members that live around the country. Any business calls with out-of-state
clients would be affordable. And the convenience of
having a phone with me all the time ranked high on my list.
Nowadays mobile phones are ubiquitous. Everybody has
one. And everyone is constantly talking. Sometimes
they are on the phone and not talking, just keeping
the connection open. Just ask my daughter. Maybe there
is something comforting about hearing breathing from
your friend on the other end of the line.

Music soothes the savage beast. So the saying
goes. Even better, Psalm 81 encourages the making of

DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS |

Unfailing Love
Blessed be the Lord, who worked a miracle of unfailing
love for me when I was in dire straights. (Psalm 31:21)
Have you ever had a relationship that failed? When
you started the friendship you were sure that would never
end and you knew that you would never do anything to hurt
the other person and you were equally sure that they would
never hurt you. But being human and prone to making mistakes
and poor decisions you do something that hurts them or
they hurt you. Then you have to try to work through the
hurt and pain and forgive one another. But, sometimes
it doesn't work that way and the relationship fails.
We have all had failed relationships, but a relationship
with God will never fail on His part. That's the miracle
part of His love, no matter what we do He is always
ready and willing to forgive us, forget it and move
on in the relationship. The ability to forgive is one
thing but the ability to forget, now that is truly miraculous
and that is what makes God's love for us unfailing.
Even when it seem that things are failing all around
you remember that God's love for you will never fail.
