 Computer Protection
 DON'T LET VIRUSES AND OTHER
 THREATS HARM YOU
You can't take too lightly the need to protect your computer against potential malicious emails and downloads. You don't have to be paranoid, just sensible.

We created this section of our web site as a public service to visitors. We want you to be better informed about viruses and other threats to your computer. The Internet is a great resource for all of us but be aware of the potential dangers.

Your first step is to get some sort of virus protection. There are many good companies that sell resonably priced protection. There are even some good free ones.

Check out the links to the right on the latest viruses and top hoaxes

Here's a common sense tip:

NEVER open an attachment in an email UNLESS you are sure you understand what it is and why it's been sent to you. When in doubt, delete. You can always write back to the person who sent it and ask if they intended to send an attachment and to please explain what it was and then resend it. Most viruses are triggered by opening an unsafe attachment

Certain e-mail greeting cards going around will install malicious files and send to your email address book as well.

What makes these different from typical virus and worms is that it is permission based, and therefore legal. In other words, you have to give permission for the download, but if you don't read the fine print -- what you are agreeing to, called the EULA (End User Licensing Agreement) -- you may end up with one of these unscrupulous programs on your computer.

Read Friendgreetings and PC Magazine to find out more.
